Walking Trails
On a sunny day, there’s nothing better than a long walk or bike ride along some of Winnipeg’s well-worn trails. Here are the top three routes we’d recommend!
River Walk: Starting at Fort Douglas Park and ending at the Manitoba Legistlative Building, this roughly 4km walk takes you past the Exchange District, Blue Cross Park, the Provencher Bridge, The Forks, and Downtown. Make it a full day by taking food and drink breaks along the way at Cibo Waterfront Café, The Common, and The Beer Can.
Seine River Trail: Easily accessed off of Shorehill Drive, this 3.1km loop follows a beautiful forest trail that along the Seine River, with a narrow dirt path that offers the nicest views and a wider gravel path for less adventurous hikers.
Harte Trail: This popular trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail and runs through a narrow strip of wilderness on an old railway bed. We recommend starting by the Perimeter Highway, and traversing the 6.5 kms to end up in Assiniboine Forest.

Kayak or Canoe
Take advantage of summer by renting a kayak or canoe from Winnipeg Canoe Rentals, situated directly behind the Pony Corral on Nairn Ave. As the oldest boat rental business in Winnipeg, the staff is well equipped to guide you through Winnipeg’s network of rivers and lakes and provide you everything you need for a successful summer afternoon.
